Well after a long hot summer off from RC regattas, the Texas Series started up again in Sun City. This was a unique regatta because it featured both Dragons over a two day regatta. We sailed DF65s on Saturday 9/16 and then came back on Sunday 9/17 and sailed the DF95s. So some traveled over and sailed one day, some showed up for the other day, and a few sailed in both regattas.
We were plesantly surprised to have good wind velocity both days. But being Berry Pond everyone knew we would have a lot of variance in direction. The winds ossilated between SE and S both days and success on the course depended on finding the wind direction quicker than your competition.

A quick shout-out to Fiesta RC Yachts for bringing their inventory to display at Saturday’s regatta!
The winds were 6-8 mph all day and the fleet was in A+ rigs all day. Chuck LeMahieu started off Saturday with a bang getting 4 bullets out of the first 5 races. Bill Foster was the only other person to garner more than one bullet. The rest of the bullets were shared over the fleet. That pretty much settled the debate over who would win on Saturday. AJ was right on Chuck’s transom all day providing exciting finishes.

Sunday brought the same conditions, a shuffle of some of the competitors, and the DF95s. Yours truely managed to eek out the win over Chuck based on tie-breaks. With 3 bullets, I got the nod. Over half of the field managed a race win during the day’s activities. Our AMYA Pirate Captian was the coveted mid-fleet hacker! Congrats Ray! A big Thank You to Sylvia Dimayuga for serving as RD for the DF95s. She calls a strict line. Ask Ray.
